Chimney Cleaning
When choosing a chimney sweep company in Dallas, TX, there are many factors to consider. The most significant aspect to consider is the contractor’s accreditation and insurance. Before deciding, make sure you inquire about both. Other things to consider include the contractor’s experience, reputation, and cost. If you’re searching for the best chimney cleaning contractors in Dallas, TX, look no further than DR CHIMNEY.
There are lots of advantages to having a clean chimney, but chief among them is the peace of mind you get when you know that:
- your beautiful, crackling fire is safely contained and venting properly
- your fireplace and chimney have proper clearances and are up to code
- dangerous gases and damaging rainwater aren’t leaking into your home
A fire just isn’t nearly as enjoyable if you have questions in the back of your mind about whether or not it poses a danger to you, your family, and your property. In addition, dirty chimneys can be smelly, smoky, and may contain debris and dead animals that can become fire hazards. Our chimney technicians use closed-circuit cameras so that we are able to show you what the inside of your chimney looks like. In this way, we’ll be able to show you the “before and after” of your chimney prior to cleaning and afterwards. In most cases, a chimney inspection is necessary before a cleaning. Here are some of the questions we hear most frequently from our customers:
What Is The Best Time Of Year To Schedule A Chimney Inspection And/Or Cleaning?
The busiest time of year for most chimney sweeps, including those of us at Dr Chimney, is from September through March. Therefore, we recommend scheduling inspections or cleanings between April and August. This is to avoid the scheduling backlog that often occurs because of the winter rush. And you won’t have to delay lighting a fire on the first chilly day; you’ll be all ready to go. Schedule your chimney cleaning appointment today by calling us or by using our appointment request form.
How Do You Clean A Chimney?
Dr Chimney uses a guaranteed “no mess” cleaning method. First, we place tarps on the floor in front of the fireplace and high-traffic areas. The chimney is then cleaned from the bottom, and we work our way up. We use specialized tools, including a series of rotating brushes, to clean every component of your chimney—the firebox, smoke chamber, damper, smoke shelf (located behind the damper), and flue liner. This process can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on how much creosote has built up in your chimney and how much time has elapsed between cleanings. The recommended yearly inspection will let you know if a cleaning is necessary.
What Is Creosote, And Why Is It In The Chimney?
Creosote is a natural by-product of burning wood. It can be defined as a combustible deposit originating as condensed wood smoke, including tar, vapors, and other organic compounds. Creosote is highly flammable, and the chief business of a chimney cleaning is to remove creosote from the chimney.
